WOW August is just flying by! It sure has been a fun and busy month!

My most recent project has been framing our bathroom mirror. I of course got the idea from Pinterest. There are tutorials for this EVERYWHERE on there. I mostly looked at this blog for guidance.
http://elizabethandco.blogspot.com/2011/02/framing-out-bathroom-mirrors.html

I didn't take any step by step pictures because I am bad at following directions and pretty much do my own thing. I would say it didn't turn out perfectly but definitely adds a little something to a boring bathroom! Here is what I did in a few easy steps....

1. Take a trip to Home Depot (Tyler asked what I wanted to do for my birthday and I said Home Depot. I had been wanting to try this for awhile).
2. Pick out your molding. They have a convenient "cut it yourself" station so you can have all your pieces cut to length right there in the store.
3. Find a miter saw/box and cut a 45 degree angle on all corners
4. Use some Liquid Nails for Mirrors to adhere the molding right onto the mirror. Make sure not to use too much because it will start leaking out the sides.
5. Use caulk to fill in any gaps in the corners or anywhere that needs touching up.

I don't know what I did with the before picture but here is an AFTER shot.

This past Saturday was Miss Maggie's first birthday! I had the privilege to make her first ever birthday cake :)

 Isn't she cute!

Tyler and I were able to FINALLY make it down to Ann Arbor. Usually we make it down there every year for the Art Festival (which I highly recommend!) but we weren't able to go this year. It was so nice to walk around campus and see how much everything has changed. Most of our time there consisted of eating at all our favorite restaurants. We also got to see our good friends Mallorie and Phil, help Phil celebrate his birthday and meet their cute new Dachshunds!

Ashleys 70 beers on tap

Of course our favorite Brownie Sundae at the Pizza House!

Did not take long for us to make it disappear!

Dominick's Sangria!!

And of course the Big House

To be completely honest, I looked back on my first post and did not remember writing some of it. I blame it on my "Night Shift Brain" aka being in a fog 50% of the time. I apologize in advance for anything that does not make sense or just sounds ridiculous.

Yesterday marked our 3rd year Anniversary! I am not going to lie it wasn't all easy. No one tells you that marriage will be hard and that it takes lots of effort from both people! At the same time it is great to always have your best friend right there with you and I wouldn't change it for the world!

To celebrate we went.....
We had received gift cards from Christmas for this little place and thought it was about time we used them! The have over 100 different types of cheeses and they let you sample any kind you want! I was practically full by the time we left. My favorite was the "potato chip" cheese (not sure if that is the official name).

Then off we went to the Highlands Golf Course (the golf course where we had gotten married) for some burger and fries.  I loved being outside in the breeze with the sun. Being a night owl makes  you appreciate the time you spend during normal waking hours.

I recently attempted two pins...........
1. http://pinterest.com/pin/210472982558388613/ (how to cut a watermelon)
I never knew the right way to cut a watermelon and now that I know it is so much easier! Just cut off the ends and then all the sides!

Homemade Bowl Covers, reusable.
Here is my attempt at it.........

I am no where near good with a sewing machine.....usually something goes wrong. My needle breaks, my bottom thread bunches up, etc. etc. I really should look into taking a real sewing class.

And I leave you with a picture of Elly :)
 Look closely....do you see her???

Blogging seems to be the thing to do these days so I might as well jump on the bandwagon. I doubt anyone will read this, so it is more for myself than anyone else. I will start with a few of my favorite things:

My Best Friend (aka my Hubby of 3 years)

My other Best Friend (aka my Goldendoodle Elly) *WARNING She will be featured a lot

I love running races. This is from a Triathlon I did in Ludington this Summer.

And of course Pinterest!  You can pretty much find anything on there!
I was lucky enough to actually have a night off last night (which was welcomed after working the past 6 of 7 nights) so I was finally able to spend some time with Tyler. We started by heading to the farmers market in the morning to pick up celery, peppers and peaches.

Then we went to Brush Studio in East Grand Rapids. I have been wanting to try this out for a long time! They supply you with all the paint, canvas, aprons and instructions. I am already planning to do it again!

Later that day we headed to the zoo with Tyler's mom and his cousin Josh. I hadn't been there in a few good years and was very impressed with what they had done with the place! There were new exhibits, a zip line, high ropes course, camel rides, etc.

Next time my goal is to post about some Pins I have tried from Pinterest (whether they turned out good or bad!)but now it is nap time so I can make through work tonight!
